The aroma of boiling maple syrup in our shop is heavenly. If you close your eyes, you can imagine yourself standing in a Vermont maple sugar house in the springtime. The people at Mount Mansfield Maple Products simmer select pure Vermont maple syrup, and as it cools, hand stir and pour it into maple leaf-shaped candy molds. The unique maple candy process is a bit of a trade secret, but it is done the old-fashioned way, just like their grandparents did, without the use of candy machines.
They use pure maple syrup to crystal coat the candy and lock in the freshness. It's no small coincidence that it turns out softer and melts in your mouth.
Small batch and handmade. They've made over 200,000 pounds of pure maple sugar candy, and every batch is only 10 pounds and hand-stirred. These extremely small batches give more control over the process and quality. They describe their confectioners as alchemists, transforming select maple syrup from our sugar bush into the award-winning maple candy that has made them so famous. Pure Vermont maple candy, the way it is supposed to be.
